Happy New Year!
Our family is grateful for another year of connecting with friends and family! We had a graduation ceremony in London for Annalisa, followed by a visit to Croatia. A trip to Chicago. And a return to the Bay Area. A more detailed look back at 2025:
- Stephen: Continues retirement and is trying to figure it out while doing a bit of consulting. So far, he’s figured out that life is too short for bad tea and drinks only the good stuff that Marsha keeps for guests.
- Marsha: Is busy with a new project…a wedding dress!!! (See below) Cross your fingers…
- Christina: Is engaged to a fellow Princeton PhD student (Will) who is from Britain. The wedding date is a bit of a moving target to the detriment of Marsha’s emotional well-being. (But let’s not make this about her.) Will has accepted an assistant professor position in the Netherlands, and Christina will be accepting an assistant professor position at the University of South Carolina. Yes, a very looooong distance relationship.
- Annalisa: Is now living and working full-time in Chicago and loving it! She is a design strategist for Interior Architects. Although she humorously self-describes herself as “Meeting Bitch” being the newest and youngest team member.
We appreciate you and your continued part in our lives! Keep in touch!

Very Best to the Pao family! 2025 was a whirl wind! Susan decided to run for Mayor of Federal Way! It’s an expensive undertaking even with donations from friends, family and strangers. Unfortunately it didn’t turn out as expected but we move on. My mom’s memories continue to fade. I noticed she is now pinning up my photos on the wall in the sunroom, and they ironically, are fading due to the summer sun. The good news is almost any experience is a ‘new’ adventure. Kids and Grandkids are growing too fast. With the economy, in particular the building industry, in a downturn, Weyerhaeuser has instituted austerity measures. After finally making 1K again on UNITED, I couldn’t make use of the perks!? It also put the brakes on making 3 million miler. I had figured about the time I considered retiring, I’d make it. Oh well. Still at the Big W, 47 years.
Always good to follow your travels and family on FB and SubStack!
Happy New Year!
